We do not know Napoleon at all
This book was written by a woman who knew Napoleon when she was 13 years old, on the island of St. Helena. I am amazed at what Napoleon was really like. He was very amused by children and behaved like one frequently in their company. He was extremely indulgent and even let her slash his dress sword at him. She describes his attempts to speak English with a very strong accent -- it's pretty cute. The book is very poignant. She dearly loved Napoleon, and I can see why.
